Editorial Policy
Our mission is to provide cancer patients and their loved ones with the most current and reliable news, medical tools, and information about cancer, as well as to be an ongoing source of inspiration, support, and connection with others who share similar interests.
Caring4Cancer has been accredited by Health on the Net (HON), an independent organization that certifies websites that meet its standards for accuracy, sourcing, and other aspects of editorial quality and excellence.
Although we strive on a daily basis to provide relevant and balanced health information, the information on Caring4Cancer or any other website is not a substitute for professional medical advice or medical services. Every cancer patient’s situation and personal health history is unique. Only your doctor and health care team can provide you with the individualized care and advice you need.
About Our Content
There are two types of content at Caring4Cancer. The first type is editorial content, which consists of not only articles but also video files, personal tools, photographs, illustrations, experts’ blogs, and ask the expert features that are published on the site. The other type of content is content generated by users of the site, or what we call ‘personal content’— content found on message boards and on users’ web pages at Caring4Cancer. This is not considered editorial content and is therefore not subject to editorial and medical review. Likewise, advertising is not considered editorial content and is clearly marked as such.
Editorial Content Created In-House
A substantial portion of our editorial content is created in-house by experienced medical writers, oncologists, and other health care professionals or by other appropriately credentialed, independent physicians, health care professionals, and experienced medical writers whom we commission. Both our in-house editors and writers and the professionals we commission to write for us are required to adhere to the highest standards of journalistic excellence and integrity.
Caring4Cancer content related to the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and overall management of specific cancers is reviewed and approved for medical accuracy by Medical Advisory Board members at least twice a year. The remaining editorial content that is not produced in-house, or commissioned, is licensed from third-parties—trusted and well-respected health publishers, including Reuters Health and Healthwise® Knowledgebase, among others.
Licensed Editorial Content
We license some editorial content from third parties for publication on the Caring4Cancer website. Caring4Cancer editors carefully review the third parties’ editorial policies and procedures for consistency with Caring4Cancer’s editorial standards and procedures. Ciaring4Cancer provides news articles that are licensed from Reuters Health and OncoEd Inc. Our health and medical encyclopedia is licensed from Healthwise® Knowledgebase.

Under no circumstances will the acceptance of an advertisement by Caring4Cancer.com be considered an endorsement of the product(s) advertised or the company that manufactures it.
