My Story
"i'm not a risk for Breast Cancer." " I just haven't had the time to get a mamogram" "I breast fed four children, that means I wont get Breast Cancer" How wrong those thought are. I knew a mamogram was important. I had my base line at age 40. Good Girl, I did what I was suppose to do. Then for one reason or another I delayed further mamograms until age 49. Where did the time go. No worry It was clean as I expected. On March 31, 2009 I had my yearly mamogram....

  • One step closer to the future

A lot has happened since my last update.  I went through 4 cycles of adriamicine and cytoxin - had a hard time with that one.  It left me in a fog.  It took me 11 days to get back to myself.  I would have 3 good days.  Then it was time for treatment again.  After that I did 4 cycles of taxol - I had a reaction on the second treatment.  It was very scary.  I would have to take dex the day before and double up on all my premeds in order to have my body accept the chemo.  I wasn't as tired with taxol but it had it's own problems.

On September 21st I had a modified ratical mastectomy of the right breast with 27 nodes removed,  only for 4 nodes with cancer.  Then i had a second surgery to correct a large dog ear lump that stuck out .  I have a scar that wraps from the center of my check all the way around to my back.  Hard to look at myself the same anymore.

I will still have 6 weeks of radiation.  Who knows what that will do.  I'm tired of always feeling tired.  I am ready to get on with my life and work to a better future!
