Why does my skin feel so itchy all the time?

Q: Why does my skin feel so itchy all the time?

A: Radiation causes the treated skin on your body to appear sunburned. You may also experience rashes, dry skin, and itchiness. Avoid scratching the itchy areas. Talk with your health care team about anti-itching baths and lotions that may help. Use only soaps or cleansers without perfumes, alcohol, or mineral oil. Pat your skin dry carefully after a shower or bath. There are also oral medications that your doctor might prescribe to reduce severe itchiness.
