When will my hair grow back?
Q: When will my hair grow back?
A: The amount of hair you lose during chemotherapy treatment is related to the type of drug you receive. You may have lost the hair on your head, eyebrows, eyelashes, facial hair, pubic hair, underarm hair, and leg hair. Rest assured--your hair will grow back.
Typically, this starts happening 1 to 2 months after chemotherapy ends, although some people have hair regrowth before the end of treatment. It may take 6 months or more for your hair to fully grow back. Your new hair may have a changed color or texture. Treat it gently. Avoid coloring it, or using chemicals, bleach, or peroxide until you have cut it at least twice, giving the hair time to get healthy before applying additional chemicals.
