Diagnosed 2 years ago with a PSA of 22, advanced prostate cancer required 44 high doses of IMRT radiation and 7 months of Lupron hormone therapy. Following my cancer remained in remission for over a year, however, recently my Urologist suggested due to urinary frequency and lower back pain I may have non speicif urinary or prostate infection since urine cultures showed nothing. Placed on antibiotics little changed with a new PSA of 15 suggested by my Oncologist I may want to go for a bone and cat scan, I agreed.
Last weeks findings showed two small spots on bone scan on my back, one near a lower rib probably indicating cancer, therefore internal referral to another Oncologist at IUPUI Cancer Pavilion in Indianapolis to set up biopsies and follow up Lupron hormone therapy for life. I am 68 and diabetic and don't like the nasty side affects of Lupron which also interfers with balancing my blood sugar. I am Type 2 Diabetic. Am I missing anything? What other options might there be? I am drasically changing my diet, been exercising, and taking some natural supplements that are good antioxidants. Thanks.. John
