Mouth Sores

My Father was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer in Jan 2008. They decided to give him chemo & radiation. He has his first chemo treatment 2 weeks ago. The Dr's decided to give him high doses of cisplatin but only 3 treatments of that: once in the beginning of radiation, once in the middle and finally once at the very end of treatment. He is going on his 3rd week of radiation and has began to get sores in his mouth. He is using the magic mouthwash and it helps some. Also he has trouble with mucus was well. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions that they may have used aside from the mouthwash that seemed to help. I have read that these symptoms will only get worse and he has 7 weeks of radiaiton left to go. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help I may receive. God Bless
