My dad

My dad is 77 and has just been diagnosed with Renal Cancer, they believe that it has gone to the bladder and are doing tests to confirm this week. The tumor is 5.5x5.7 in the left kidney, the adrenal gland and urethra is very swollen which they believe is the cancer spreading, is this the start of the spreading? What can we expect from this point once there is surgery to remove the kidney? He lives in South Carolina and I am in Ohio I would like to move him back to for his care and treatments so I can care for his needs, How long of a recovery is it from Kidney removal?  I just want to make sure he is getting all he needs, I lost my mother in 1996 of lung cancer and it was two years of treatment before she died, I want to provide my dad with the same comfort as we did for my mom.

Thanks!

Re: My dad

My Dad too had cancer of the kidney he was told in Dec'06 they said that he was too old to operate on to try and remove it he was 81. In Feb'07 he died, he had a strong heart I had went to be with him as a call came to say that he wouldn't make it. I got to spend Dad's final week with him, he was in a VA hospital in Illinois, I live in WI. but they made me very comfortable so that we could have that time with him, I was there 24 hours a day, I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to be with him. Every one is differant but if you want peace of mind and you are able you too would not regret having him with you if he is still able to be moved.

best to you and your Dad,

believer
