    Acceptance

My name is David and I have mesothelioma. I'm 65 now, but the doctors say I got it from the work I did with asbestos for a year when I was a kid before enlisting. I can't believe I survived through Vietnam just to die because of a quick job when I was 17. My kids are grown now, my grandchildren are too young to have really gotten to know me, and my Beth passed several years back. I'll be missed, but it won't be a crushing blow. Are there others out there like me?

    Hi, David,

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  Our family, too, has suffered this same shocking news.  My mom is 66 years old and was in perfect health prior to her recent diagnosis.  She just finished her final Alimta treatment today.  We are wondering what the next step is??  Could you share where you are at with your treatment and what stage you are in?  My mom has pleural mesothelioma and was told she was at stage II but it is in a few small lymph nodes.  Thank you for any info you can provide and if I can be of any help at all, please contact me here or at utahungers@yahoo.com  Lisa
