My name is Teresa Lanham I am 44 years old and a wife and mother of three wonderful children.  I have Thyroid cancer.  I found out that I had Thyroid cancer back in December of 2000. Since then I have had three major surgeries, internal radition, seven weeks of external beam radition and now I am taking a very strong drug called Nexavar.  I have been through all of this because my cancer has returned three times and the doctors say that I may have to live with this cancer from now on. They say that the treatments may take the cancer away for a short time and I may just keep on coming back.  Because of all the things that I have been through and the fact that I have not worked for two years I am in a huge financial mess.  I have months when I am afraid that I will not be able to pay many of my bills.  I have three kids two are in junior college and my youngest is a freshman if high school.  I am writing all this in hopes that someone may be able to tell me where I can find help to pay bills and also doctor bills.   May God bless all of you, Teresa Lanham

Hi, my dad has small cell lung cancer and is in a financial bind also... I found a couple websites on here terminallyill.org and cancer foundation etc...   that might be able to help it also depends a lot on  what state you live in...  here in TN there's not much help, unless you do have minor children...  feel free to e-mail me.. and maybe we both can benefit

Hi My name is Della and I live in Florida. I am married, have a 3 yr old and mother in law living under the same roof. My husband and I both work full time. I am currently on short term disabilitiy but the pay goes down to 60% in 4 weeks. I will then be looking for an extra $1000 per month to help pay bills as we just moved into a new home in March. I am in dire fear of losing my home and as much as people say don't think about it and just worry about getting better, I can't. I do no think my cancer is terminal but I am afraid of what the finances will accrue in the next few months ahead. Do you know of any good websites for Florida. I have already been to social security for long term disability. Probably won't help our situtation.

Hi Teresa:

Sounds like you've been thru Hell and back.  I'm on Thalomid which costs $4418 per month, of which my insurance only pays $1500.  The Chronic Disease Fund is picking up the difference and leaving me with a copay of $10.  I don't know if they can help in your situation but they are a Godsend to me.  You can find them on the web at www.cdfund.org.  It's worth a try.  Good luck and God bless.

Check with the hospital some of them have funds that you can sign up for every 6 months to help pay bills too.
