My 83 y/o mom just told she has lung cancer...

Hi folks,

I live with my mother I'm 46. our lives were going great then three weeks ago we were told she has small cell lung cancer, metastisized to her liver and some lymph nodes. She's had one chemo treatment, and it's about wore her down. She's anxious, won't eat, etc. Watching my mother fade away is hard for me. My siblings help, but they have their families. I'm single, and I've lived with my mom all my life. When she dies, it'll be such a shock to my everyday life. I feel helpless. She's not in pain, just short of breath. If anyone out there is a caregiver for an elderly parent share your thoughts with me. I've never been thru this. My dad died of a heart attack,so that was quick. Thank You.

My situation is a little different, but when it comes to cancer, we are all in it together.

My husband was diagonosed back in May.  He is 49.  This is his second round of cancer.

Is she eating anything?  If not, please try Boost, or chicken soup, anything to keep her strength up

somewhat.  I also make my husband drink Pedolite.

It is my almost 75 year old husband who has lung cancer recently diagnosed with nsclc at stage 3A  I know that you must have been in a much shock as we are.  I do not think that i will be able to get my husband to eat when it becomes that time.  I will surely be reading the others on here to see what works for them.  God Bless you and I am sure that you are grateful for all these years you have had her.
