Re: My beloved husband

I'm very sorry to hear about your husband. I'll put you, your husband,& family in my prayers. I'm not sure what you can expect cause every person is different unfornately my father has just lost his battle to cancer on July14,07. He had lung cancer  which spreaded to his liver, we found out on May 17,07 about the cancer. We tried the chemo for him but there was no sucess, he only went downhill after that. His cancer was small cell lung cancer, which does your husband have? They explained to us that there was two types: non small cell which can linger and may go into remission & small cell which grows rapidly. I still read the bulletins here trying to figure it all out myself but the loss has been very hard on me, I miss him terribly. I hope & pray your husband can beat this cancer. I'm not sure if I'm aloud to post my email but I'll try so if you may want to talk . Good luck to all of you & god bless.

Re: My beloved husband

No one can really answer how lung your husband may have.  Today with some of the newer treatments even with disease spread outside the lung people can do really well for long periods of time.  That often depends on how he responds to the treatments and how he does with the side effects.  Talking with his doctor may give you some idea of what to expect down the line.  Check wth his doctors or nurses to find out if there are any support groups for caregivers in your area.  They can be very useful in helping you to deal with what is going on.  The Carign4 Cancer site has a lot of information that may also prove very helpful to you.  Good luck  Bernie RN

Re: My beloved husband

I READ YOUR MSSG.  I DONT KNOW WHERE U R AT AT THIS POINT WITH THE MEDICAL BACKGROUND.  I DO UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE PROGNOSIS.  AND WHAT TO EXPECT.

MY DAD IS 66 AND CAME TO VISIT WITH MY MOM FROM FL IN JUNE. WAS NOT FEELING WELL AND BROUGHT HIM IN THE HOPT AND DIAGNOSED HIM WITH STAGE 4 SMALL CALL CARCINOMA LUNG CANCER AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF TESTING.

EACH DR. THAT I SPOKE WITH SINCE JULY 07 SAID 3 MONTHS ANOTHER SAID 6 MONTHS AND LAST DR. SAID ONE AND 1/2 YEARS AT THE MOST.  IT HAS BEEN NOW 5 MONTHS.  HE IS NOW IN FL.  AND I COMMUNICATE WITH THE DR. VIA PHONE. HORRIBLE TO DO.

MY MOM ON THE OTHER HAND IS NOT STRONG AND I AM DEALING WITH THE DR.S AND BILLS AND THERE AGAIN LIKE I SAID IN FL. DO NOT WANT TO COME BACK HERE. MY DAD DOES NOT THINK ITS ALL THAT BAD AND THINKS HE CAN FIGHT IT.

HE DOES NOT TAKE THE PATCH FOR PAIN ANYMORE AND IS FINE WHEN HE IS NOT ON THE CHEMO.  BUT IT HAS SPREAD TO THE HIP AND SPINE.

I KNOW THIS IS NOT MUCH HELP TO U BUT UR NOT ALONE AND IT FEELS GOOD TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE ABOUT THIS.

THEY SAY THAT EVERY PERSON IS DIFFERENT SO YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL TAKE THEM.  BUT STILL IS NOT A GOOD ANSWER.. I GUESS NO ANSWER IS GOOD.

 WHEN WAS HE DIAGNOSED?

WHAT STATE ARE U IN?
