Lung cancer

My mother is being treated for stage IV NSC lung carcinoma with Taxol.  She had it for 3 weeks, off 1 week, and now is back on her 3 week cycle.  She just turned 83 on July 4.  She and my dad both think that chemo will make her all better and make the cancer go away.  They just don't get it that this is only palliative and she will never be cured because the cancer is too far gone.  They see all these people on TV who have had cancer and have recovered, but they don't understand that there are different types and stages of cancer. They are in total denial of her prognosis.  My father is a self-proclaimed invalid because he has diabetic neuropathy and says that he can't do anything for himself and makes my mother still be his personal slave, even though she is having a hard time with her own health.  We are trying to get some help for them but nothing is good enough.  My brother and I both have to work full time jobs and do our best to help them as we can.  We have families of our own to take care of.  Any advice from anyone on how to deal with all this?  thank you and God bless
