uterine cancer

I would really love to talk to someone who is going through uterine cancer.  I am 51 years old, the divorced mother of 3 and grandmother of 5 little ones.  i am just finding out that I am sick and starting this whole process.  Please write me if you can understand.

Re: uterine cancer

I too have been diagnosed with uterine cancer/endometrial cancer.  I am 54 and lost my significant other 3 years ago.  He died very suddenly - in his sleep!  Anyway, I am totally shocked by this...and am finding that there is not as much information on this type of cancer, as others - breast, lung, etc.

I was diagnosed on 5/18; released by my surgeon on 6/10(I had a total hysterectomy, lymph nodes, etc) and started radiation @ 6/25.  I am struggling with the radiation....I felt so good after my surgery, that I am not happy feeling poorly now.

So, we will see.  I may opt out of the treatment soon and see what other options I have.

Anyway, I didn't mean this to be all about me.  Write more about your situation....and maybe we can share any information we can find..

Re: uterine cancer

I saw your post on uterine cancer....I just started radiation....did well with my surgery...luckily they got eveything, but because my tumor was so rare and has a tendency to reappear they wanted me to have radiation as a follow up........I have faith in my doctors, but this is so scary..........I am 54 also....loved the picture with your dog........I have two rescues that are my recovery partners

Re: uterine cancer

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, called leomyosarcoma. I am scheduled for my hysterectomy in 2 days. I am hoping that I will not need chemo or radiation but wont know until all the pathology is completed. What type of rare cancer did you have that you had radiation afterwards? I was informed if this remains leomyosarcoma and no other types of cancer show up that surgery is the only treatment needed. I just feel so good now that its hard to believe that I have cancer, I hope that it stays this way but Im scared that it won't. Does anyone else feel like this or is it just me?

I think that opting out too soon, may not be the best course of treatment for you.Write more and let me know how you are doing ...

Re: uterine cancer

I could have written what you did.  We have a lot of the same issues.  I was diagnosed in Oct. endrom. cancer.  Had total histy.  Did chemo 5X, 25 days of radiation and then 5 sessions of HDR.  And then to top that off I ate a full jar some each day of the contaminated peanut butter during radiation.!!  Salmonella poisoning.  I have a body scan every 3 months so far 2 are clear.  Please let me know how you are.  God bless us all as we try to  heal in Jesus name.

Re: uterine cancer

I was diagnosed with Uterine Sarcoma after 5+ years of going through menopause.  I've had a total hysterectomy, 25 external radiation treatments and today had my 3rd and final HDR internal treatment.  Best wishes and good health to all.

Re: uterine cancer

Hi Jeannette. I saw your reply and was curious as to what type of cancer you were diagnosed with. I am 53, and recently had a total hysterectomy , the surgery went well also, but I have no further follow up except for x rays and ct scans.I agree this is scary stuff. You have to have faith in your doctor and in God to see you through this. I also have had two rescue dogs, currently we have an Australian sheppard who is doing a great job of watching our farm and live stock, or at least she thinks she is.... take care and stay in touch, Peg

Re: uterine cancer

Hi all!

I am new in here.  I was diagnosed last week with endemetrial cancer.  I was told it is a low grade slow growing tumor.  I turned 37 on August 30 and my Dr. didn't think I had it because of my age.  He was my fertility dr. and I think it saddened him as much as it did me that I had to have a hysterectomy.  I am fine with that now that I know its essential!  I have 3 sons already and want to be healthy for them.  We think I've had this cancer for over a year now since I know that the spotting, and bleeding are symtoms of my disease.  I went the last 10 years without periods and just thought I was going to start having them again.  Boy was I wrong!!  I was actually diagnosed with the cancer last Thursday and had my hysterectomy the following Wednestday.  I was able to come home yesterday which was Saturday and I'm healing very well.  I feel better than I have in a very long time.  My oncologist and gynecologist told me they got all the cancer and I only have less than a 2% chance of it reaccuring.  My biopsies all came back clear of it.  I'm so pleased.  I was so scared that it went too long without a diagnosis.  Thank God everything went so well. I have some questions about menopause since I will be going through that soon.  I lost my ovaries in order to help me prevent it from spreading.  I wasn't prepared to go through this yet but am happy as a lark to live to go through it!!!!  I can't have any hormone replacement as I'm told estrogen is now my worst enemy.  I have to go all natural.  Any hints, advise or encoragement?

Re: uterine cancer

My 50 year old daughter was diagnosed on 1/4/08 with Uterine Sarcoma of the muscle and is scared to death.  She will not even get on the internet yet and is afraid of what she will find.  I hope to have her get on this board for help.  She will be going to M D Anderson on 3/14/08 to see if there is a trial she can get into.  Does anyone out there have this diagnosis?

Re: uterine cancer

Sharon, We are so sorry!  My mom Joan just found out 2-27-08, that she has stage 4 uterin cancer and is also a divorced mom of 3.  She just turned 55, and has 6 grandchildren.  My mom will start her Chemo on 4-3-08.  Her doctors believe it will help prolong her life, but at this point we are feeling a little over whelmed.  I just noticed that your entry is a little old, hopefully you can get back to us, as we are curious about how you are doing, and how your treatments went???  We are feeling very scared, and very afraid of getting sick after chemo treatments.  Please feel free to e-mail us at mlinkemyer@comcast.com--  Looking forward to hearing from you-Martha and Joan

Re: uterine cancer

Hi! If you got my first message Hi again if not I am Marsha and I have leiomysarcoma of the uterus. I found that the best treatment for me was removal of the cancer which was on my wall. It had not gone throw the wall of my uterus so that was thankful. The hysterectomy was good but painful. To me having a baby is much easier. I'm still having the scar pull when I over do it.

I had my daugther, foster son, and my sister help around the house. That was the best. Plus they would prepare my small meals. I ate yogart, ice cream, jello, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, soup, mash potatoes, cooked beans, broccoli, and when I was able to eat meat I eat chicken, stake, fish, and veggies. I drink alot of water, ice tea unsweetened, coffe with milk, and all of the meals are small. I keep cut veggies, crackers- animal crackers, peanut butter filled, etc. sliced apples and other fruit on hand.

I keep a journal of prayers, thoughts, and how I feel. Make sure you are trouthful on feelings. I also have good crying times with friends and family. That seems to cleans the air and while you cry talk about everything.

Let me know how your are doing.
