    Re: Weight

     Hello Grace

I am experiencing the same after chemo and radiation.  Quite the opposite while undergoing treatment where I lost about 50 lbs.  I'm concerned that the weight gain won't stop, but if I have to take the weight over the condition, I'll deal with the weight.

Hopefully it will level off soon.

     Hi Grace -

Wondered if you have been able to exercise at all?  If it's okay with your doctor and you are able to get out...a 30 minute walk 2-3 times a week may help.  I usually wait until the sun goes down a bit in the early evening.

The steroid meds administered during my chemo sessions had me eating quite a bit through out the days.  I wish you well.

Yes! I have been riding my bike per Dr.'s order at least 3 xwk. I ride 1 mile and walk also alot at work. I just can't seen to loose any of this weight.

I feel that the chemo and radiation slowed down my system. I wounder if it will ever go back to what it was.

well... i am glad that i am not the only one! i thought it was me. i am a big girl to start with, i did lose some weight, 30lbs or so, before and during treatment. but in the last 9 months, it has been slowly creaping back on. i try to walk at least 2 miles, fairly regularly, when i feel up to it, my diet hasn't change and still it creaps back on. my dr's nurse (she's wonderful) says if that's our biggest worry, life is good! i try not to let it get to me, some days are better than others! i can't wait for big bulky winter sweaters! hee hee hee.

I am glad i am not the only one that has gained weight with chemo. I still have a long way to go and have gained 16 lbs. I am very upset. I try to exercise when i am up to it. Good Luck. mgails.

    Re: Weight

I finished my chemo treatments 9 months ago and went from the weight gain of steroids during chemo to the weight gain of adjuvent therapy after both chemo and radiation.  Upset...you bet.   Things to be done...well, if you can figure it out you are a lot smarter than I am.  Initially diet was crucial in getting rid of the excess water due to the steroids.  Now, it's just a lack of energy and a very healthy appetite.  In my "past life" I was an exercise fiend who went to the gym 4 - 5 days a week.  Now I do well to get 3 things done in one day.  I readily admit to feeling great I just don't have any stamina.  Afternoon naps are still a daily part of my life and I cannot even imagine walking in the heat of SW Florida.  My goal is to get off the adjuvent therapy as quickly as possible.  I refuse to be defined by cancer so I guess that means I have to get off my back side and actually do something about the weight.

Please do let me know if you have any breakthroughs.  Smile

Well thank God you are here to worry about this. :)  If it is a real problem you should first talk to the Doc. Because they watch this close . Good Luck I hope you figure it out. It could be because you are eating better now or something like that too.
