    When does hair fall out?

I have only had the first chemo treatment and was told in two weeks time I would lose my hair. So far, I still have my hair. I cut it short waiting for the hair loss to occur.

my next chemo date is April 8th, do you recommend shaving head when the hair loss starts?

Hello, it depends on what chemo drug you are being treated with. I had Adrimyson, (never can spell that one right LOL). I was dx on Oct 18,2006 and started treatment on the Adr on Dec 06 I had very long hair down to my back before I started chemo, I cut it short knowing it would fall out, after taking my first treatment of Ardi it started to come out in clumps so Jan 10, 2007 my family and I had a shaving party, it was sad but it had to be done. But to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel my last treatment was on June 5,2007 and I now have hair almost to my shoulders and boy is it curly, no perm for me. I hope this helps you.

I too am new to chemotherapy & am scheduled for my 2nd treatmet in April. In fact in 3 days.
I had my first tx in Feb (I had problems with chemo & wound up in hosp twice so it had to be postponed) and hair started to come out in clumps the 2nd week. Strands of it hung on, and I was hesistant to get it shaved but finally this past week I did. It's okay & is already growing stubble.
The decision is yours but it's not as bad as I had thought it would be without it. In fact I don't miss not having to deal with all the stray hairs, hairs in my face, etc. :)
And with just patches it looks much better...even bald...even my husband said so.
Good luck with whatever decision you make.
