    Hey Karen,

My father was just diagonosed with small cell lung cancer stage IV... So I KNOW YOUR PAIN, I can't say that I know the answers, but I do know your pain.  My dad is only 50 years old and we found out about ALL this the day after my wedding.  When people ask me how married life is, I say it's great, but the rest of my life began to fall apart once I said "I do"...

My dad started chemo on 8/13 and goes 3 days on, 3 weeks off for 4 - 6 cycles so at this point we don't if this course of treatment is actually the most aggressive we can take but he is begining to feel the side affects of the chemo now...  He cannot taste anything and in turn doesn't want to eat.  He's lost nearly 10 lbs since 8/13 and it breaks my heart!

It hurts to see your parents in such a vulnerable state, he is my daddy, he's not supposed to be fragile and frail... And I am not ready to lose him...

So I continue to support him in his fight and if there is anything I can do to help you, just let me know.

Good LUCK & GOD bless we'll pray for you and EVERYONE else affected by this...

I AM IN A SIMILIAR SITUATION WITH BOTH YOUR MOM AND DAD.  MY STORY IS THAT MY DAD WAS DIAGNOSED IN JULY OF 07 IN NEW.  HE LIVES WITH MOM IN FL. WAS DIAGNOSED HERE WITH SMAALL CALLL CARCINOMA STAGE 4 AND SPREAD TO THE HIP AND SPIN.  HAD HIS FIRST SET OF CHEM HERE AT SLOAN 3 DAY IN  A ROW 3 WEEKS OFF AND THEN DECIDED HE WILL FIGHT IT AND WENT TO BACK TO FL.  NOW MY MOM IS THERE TO DEAL IM HEAR WITH MY CHILDREN AND IS VERY HARD TO DEAL.  BUT HIS IN FACT GETTIN TREATED.. LOSING A LOT OF WEIGHT, CANT TASTE MUCH VERY SHORT TEMPERED AND UPSET ALL THE TIME.  ONLY WHEN HE IS ON CHEMO. HE FEELS FINE WHEN OFF IT.

REFUSED TO TAKE THE PATCH FOR PAIN. AND JUST GOT RETESTED WITH HIS PET SCAN LAST WEEK. TOMORROW HE WILL GET HIS RESULTS.  I TRIED TO CALL THE DR TO SEE IF THEY ARE NOT GOOD TO AT LEAST TELL  ME AND HOLD OFF TELLING HIM UNTIL AFTER THE HOLIDAYS.

3 DIFFERENT DR. GAVE ME A 3 MONTH, 6 MONTH AND LAST DR. TOLD ME 1 /12 YEARS AND NO MORE..  I WOULD LIKE TO BE PREPARED BEING THAT IM HERE IN NY AND NEED TO HELP MY MOTHER WHO IS NOT THE STRONGEST PERSON. I KNOW IT SOUNDS SO HORRIBLE WHEN U ASK THE DR.  WELL.   HOW LONG SO I CAN PREPARE MY MOM.  BUT HOW ELSE DO U ASK THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION.

I HOPE I HELPED IT HELP ME TO RESPOND TO YOUR NOTES.

EMAIL ME BACK IF U CAN
