    Colorectal Cancer Metastatic Bone Tumors

It's not me that has cancer, it's my mother.  Sunday she was unable to wake up b/c of all the pain killers she was on.  She was driven to the hospital in a near comatose state and we were told she was completely dehydrated and belligerent on top of it.  Everything hurt her and she still isn't able to speak clearly.  The week before, she was walking around fine, she had cut back on her medication and BOOM.  We almost lost her.

She a had Stage IV rectal cancer. It was an isolated tumor, but huge, and 2 years ago they found it after a routine colonoscopy.  It first metastasized to her lung tissue, and that has been the problem.  The tumor was reduced and removed.  The lung tumors treated with chemo.

Since then, she has found tumors on her knee, which split her femur in half.  She has some on her ribs toward her spine.  She has them on her vertebrae, which is apparently what caused this recent shut down.

Her doctors are telling us that they don't know what to say about it.  Colorectal cancer almost never goes to the bones.  My sister in law says she found information contrary to that.

I know I don't want to lose my mother.  Where can I find more information about this?  Does anyone know anything to help?

How did it spread from one area to another didn't they do what they were supposed to do to isolate it to where it initially started? This too worries me I have a Sister going through the same as your Mpther it has spread to her hip from her breast cancer ,How is that? Has your mother tried the latest in target therapy? There is supposed to be a thing that they call "The Magic Bullet " that goes directly to the sopurce of the cancer and no where else so that the white blood cellcounts don't drop as dramatically with the regular chemo I'm re-starting my chemo with the Xeloda those huge horse pills three at at timee twice a day, the side effects are worse than the cancer itself I experienced no pain just discomfort before my colon surgery, just runny stool diahrrea, and sometimes discomfort at defication but not much then the done the biopsy and found two large tumors blocking my intestines, got the surgery done in October of last year still wearing a stoma bag illioscopy bag for waste, it is uncomfortble as heck and unsightly to say the least inconvienent also you never know when and where the thing might spring a leak and I wear really nice clothes as a businessman. Wish your Mom a speedy and painless recovery as possible please keep me posted it helps all of my research in trying to find a cure for this stuff/cancer. Ihope she getsbetter you are very brave helping her like you are doing posting the problems so others like me can undertand and coment. kjr@hawaii.edu,crazydiamond2153@yahoo.com I'm or will be one year older come April 25th 2010

That's a lie my bones ache all of the time and urination is painful from the radiation and the radiation burns hurt like hell, and vomiting from the chemo pills makes you feel sicker than the original cancer
