My husband was diagnosed with a leiomyosarcoma of the ethmoid sinus in March2010.After the biopsy, the tumor went crazy...it is so rare doctors didn't know what to do.After the tumor board met several times, they recommended surgery. It was so risky, I contacted the NIH and was able to find out about Neutron therapy(super-duper radiation.)He had 12 neutron treatments at the Fermi Lab @ NIU in Batavia, IL. They stopped the tumor from growing and it has actually shrunk. Unfortunately, scans indicated a renal cell on his kidney. This was removed in July. Recent scans indicate some small sarcomas in one lung, so he has just started chemo.
I know this probably wasn't much help, but Neutron therapy has been very successful for head and neck sarcomas.
Hope things go well for you.
