Alternative Cancer Treatments Rather Than Radiation

Are there any other alternative cancer treatments other than radiation and chemo? Using nutrition to rid yourself of cancer? It seems that you are risking harm to your immune system by having radiation and/or chemo.I am in a 33 treatment with radiation and on my 7th visit for sarcoma.

    Thanks

Hi...I don't have any answers to your questions.  I too have been scheduled for 33 treatments of radiation and have completed 3 thus far, for breast cancer.

I wondered how you've been feeling after a week?  I've been very nervous about radiation treatment even with all the knowledge obtained...not sure how my body will actually react to the treatment.

You might look into the natural product called Essiac.  Try www.vitaminshoppe.com on your PC.  Good luck

I took my 33 treatments for breast cancer and did not have any bad side effects.  I did have fatigue and still have a little "sunburn tan" on my breast.  When I had my mammogram the tech showed me how the X-rays thickened the skin.  That should eventually go away.  Drink lots of water and be sure to do the exercises they give you.  Good luck!

Hi, I have just finished my 13th of 33 radiation treatments and am feeling fine. No tiredness, no problems with digestion, no skin problems around my arm where I receive radiation. I am drinking alot of water, getting exercise ( walking),taking naps, plenty of fruits and vegtables and no sugar.I hope all goes well with you.

You mention exercises that "they give you." I am on my 14th radiation treatment (out of 33 total) after completing chemo for breast cancer and have never been advised as to any exercises. Are you speaking in general terms, i.e. walking, bike riding, or is there something specific you were taught? I am suffering from local dull chronic pain at the surgical site since starting radiation (I was pain free b4 during chemo). I sure appreciate any advice!

I was given a sheet of specific exercises for the side of radiation to keep the tissues from shrinking and to keep a range of movement.  These included raising your arm 5 times, squeezing your shoulders to the back for 5 seconds 5 times, placing a rolled up towel down the middle of your back while lying down etc.
Ask the radiation nurse about these.  It will also help with scar tissue under your arm if you had lymph nodes removed.  it is possible these would not be helpful until later - only your radiologist can determine this.

    Good luck, Oldlady
