Clove Tea

 

Try this recipe for a warm tea that will soothe your digestive tract and help minimize diarrhea. This tea also can help replace the fluids that you have lost due to diarrhea.

Preparation time: 10 minutes.

Serves one as a beverage.

Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 whole cloves*
  • 8 ounces of water
  • 1 green tea bag

Instructions

  • Simmer the whole cloves in 8 ounces of water until the volume is reduced by half (4 ounces of the liquid remains).
  • Pour the hot liquid into a mug and remove the whole cloves.
  • Add 2 ounces cool water to mug.
  • Add green tea bag to mug and let steep for 3 minutes.**
  • Let cool until comfortably warm and drink slowly.

Per serving: 0 calories.**

* Women who are pregnant should consult their doctor before ingesting cloves
** If you are sensitive to caffeine or if you are trying to avoid caffeine, skip the green tea bag.

ACOG Updates Cervical Cancer Screening Guidelines

Folic Acid May Be Beneficial in Patients with Recurrent Colorectal Adenoma Who Are Folate Deficient

November 20, 2009 — Researchers affiliated with the Health Professional Follow-Up Study and the Nurses’ Health Study have reported that folic acid supplementation in patients with recurrent colorectal adenoma was not protective or harmful in most patients. However, patients who were folate deficient had a significant 39% decrease in adenoma recurrence. The details of this study appeared in an early online publication on October 28, 2009 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
